Ferragamo at the 2025 Met Gala

The Ferragamo story has a longstanding connection to Hollywood, as that is where Salvatore Ferragamo earned the title of “shoemaker to the stars” in the 1920s. He crafted iconic footwear for legends such as Joan Crawford and Judy Garland, ballerina Katherine Dunham, and dressed the stars of Cecil B. DeMille’s Westerns and Marilyn Monroe’s comedies.

This year, for the 2025 Met Gala "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style", Ferragamo reaffirms its historic bond with Hollywood and bold creative expression. Creative Director Maximilian Davis — at the helm since 2022 — continues to reimagine the brand’s legacy by merging traditional Italian craftsmanship with contemporary design. His vision was at the heart of Ferragamo’s presence at the Gala, curating a lineup of powerful and expressive looks for Kylie Jenner, Ayo Edebiri, LaKeith Stanfield and Paloma Elsesser.

Inspired by the Black dandy and the history of clothing as a means of redefining identity, Davis approached each look with a deep understanding of both the theme and the individual style of his muses.
His designs, displayed as part of The Costume Institute’s Exhibition, included pieces from Ferragamo’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection—his debut season—and a look from his namesake Spring/Summer 2021 line.
