Ferragamo, partner of the exhibition Lo sguardo nascosto. La danza dietro il sipario (The Hidden Gaze. Dance Behind the Curtain), at the Museo Teatrale alla Scala from February 12 to September 14, 2025.

Through the images of Gérard Uféras, the exhibition explores the intimacy of dance, revealing the discipline and poetry of the Ballet Company of La Scala. A world that reflects the spirit of Ferragamo, where grace and rigor, aesthetics and functionality come together. A dialogue between art and craftsmanship, symbolized by the ballerina, a model of perfection between form and movement.

Since the 1920s, Salvatore Ferragamo has been creating shoes for actresses, ballerinas, and artists connected to dance, including Katherine Dunham, Alicia Markova, and Anna Pavlova, drawn to the balance between beauty and comfort. The Ferragamo archive holds a precious collection of ballerinas, including those featuring the Ballerina by Ferragamo logo, symbolizing a heritage that continues to inspire. The ballerina created for Audrey Hepburn in 1954 is one of the most famous examples, embodying the union of elegance and practicality. Icons like Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, and Ingrid Bergman also chose these shoes, blending fashion with the art of movement.

The exhibition, curated by Paola Calvetti and Livia Corbò, with the set design by Margherita Palli and Valentina Dellavia, invites the audience to cross the boundary between stage and backstage, discovering the beauty hidden in the silences of preparation, the exchanged glances between dancers, and the rituals preceding each debut. A journey that reflects the company’s philosophy, where the true essence of beauty lies in the creative process, commitment, and passion that make it eternal.
Ferragamo is proud to support this celebration of dance and art, reaffirming its commitment to promoting culture and craftsmanship excellence. A tribute to the beauty of the gesture, the perfection of form, and the story of a timeless icon.

Each dance step stems from an endless pursuit of harmony, born from discipline and dedication. Similarly, the craftsmanship of the maison is grounded in the perfection of detail and the constant drive toward excellence. Just as dancers refine every movement until it becomes pure expression, artisans shape materials with the same meticulousness, creating pieces that embody a soul. This parallel is also reflected in Maximilian Davis’ Spring-Summer 2025 collection, where ballet inspires fluid, soft silhouettes in shades that evoke the dim light of the curtain and the chiaroscuro of the theater wings.
